Embroidery: Calico Box ...

Diane is near completion of a calico stumpwork box - being made to contain her collection of lace bobbins. Several individual stumpwork panels have been stitched and will finally be assembled as a box.

To examine the feasibility of the box construction, test techniques and investigate any possible problems she may encounter, a small 'test' sample is being made (here the lid's hinge is being looked at).

By doing this, she 'irons out' any difficulties before assembling the final piece.
