Temari Group ...

The majority of the current STITCHERYDOERS, have decided to make some TEMARI BALLS over the next few weeks. These are thread covered balls of any size although everyone is making their first one using a polystyrene ball about the size of a tennis ball. The balls are finally covered with a variety other coloured yarns or threads.

For the first week, everyone covered the initial ball with wadding and then hand-wound it with fine wool/thread. Here's how far they had reached by the end of the first session ...

As you can see everyone is at a different stage. From left to right:
Aqua yarn - first winding over wadding; Upper 3 balls to right - almost completed of initial covering; Lower black/purple - start of final covering using fine cotton purple yarn; black/pink -
start of final covering using fine cotton black yarn; white/red - start of stitching

By next week, everyone should have their ball finally covered with threads & ready to begin marking for the stitching.
